Journalism - Science topic

Journalism is the collection, preparation, and distribution of news and related commentary and feature materials through such media as pamphlets, newsletters, newspapers, magazines, radio, motion pictures, television, and books. While originally applied to the reportage of current events in printed form, specifically newspapers, with the advent of radio and television the use of the term has broadened to include all printed and electronic communication dealing with current affairs.

I am experiencing difficulty putting citations in author-year format. The Template says it uses natbib for author-year citations. However, when I use \citet{ID number}, It shows question mark in front of authors name.

In this work, we present our developments in the context of solving two main classes of problems: data-driven solution and data-driven discovery of partial differential equations. Depending on the nature and arrangement of the available data, we devise two distinct types of algorithms, namely continuous time and discrete time models. The first type of models forms a new family of data-efficient spatio-temporal function approximators, while the latter type allows the use of arbitrarily accurate implicit Runge–Kutta time stepping schemes with unlimited number of stages. The effectiveness of the proposed framework is demonstrated through a collection of classical problems in fluids, quantum mechanics, reaction–diffusion systems, and the propagation of nonlinear shallow-water waves.},

and what made me especially angry was that they claimed to have an impact factor, which would mean that they are being listed by Web of Science. That is definitely not the case. At their website they specify that what they call "impact factor" is their own calculation based on Google Scholar.
The predatory journal scene is getting more and more ruthless it seems.
Here's a copy of the email I received:

Hi,
we have submitted to a number of Elsevier journals recently - and every time we pick a new journal, the editorialmanager web page requires us to register from scratch - i.e. we needed to enter a lot of information each time, instead of having a common profile (typically it takes at least 20 minutes to enter personal data, scientific fields, priorities, keywords, gender statement, and so on). I personally have found it annoying.
What is your opinion?

Good Day researchers.
I am currently looking for some journals that have high acceptance rate(AR) and average impact factor(IF). My work is on battery materials.
I am currently looking at "The Chemical Record" and "Scientific Report". Both have an impact factor of around 5 and an acceptance rate >50%.
However I feel those should be my safe bet, and I should aim for something with higher impact factor (around 10) and with >36% acceptance rate.
Do you have any Journal suggestions? Is there a centralized place I can see what are my options? I feel a place we can see most journals' IFs and ARs can help researchers greatly in selecting where to publish.
Thank you in advance!

Recently I visited <https://research.com/> (R) (a platform that lists top scientists around the world from the areas of computer science and electronics) and later I also visited <https://atlas.cern/> (A) (the ATLAS Experiment at CERN). I made the following observations (I intentionally don't mention names):
1. One of the top authors at R has published 1,816 papers.
If one's professional career lasts 40 years, the calculation says:
40 years X 365 days = 14600 days; 14600 / 1816 = 8 days to publish a paper
That means 1 paper is published every 8 days during the entire professional life! That's about 45 papers a year... every year!
2. The same author at R has an h-index of 167.
"The h-index is defined as the maximum value of h such that the given author/journal has published at least h papers that have each been cited at least h times."
The R's top author has 167 papers each one cited 167 times!
3. A paper published by A's researchers had 78 authors!
I realize that CERN is something "big" and quite complex. But... there are 78 authors anyway...
Probably all those people are high-level scientists. But... what makes them hyperprolific? Is it real? How is it possible? Is it more for the benefit of science or is it a kind of business?
What's your opinion?

Mega-authorship implications: How many scientists can fit into one cell?

This increase has presented problems in terms of determining true authorship versus other types of contribution, issues with database metadata and data output, and publication length. Using items with 500+ authors deemed as mega-author titles, a total of 5,533 mega-author items were identified using InCites. Metadata about the items was then gathered from Web of Science and Scopus. Close examination of these items found that the vast majority of these covered physics topics, with medicine a far distant second place and only minor representation from other science fields...

Hello everyone,
Recently, I came to a link that has listed all the MDPI journals as predatory. I have a few papers with MDPI journals and it really concerned me. How valid is this information? Please provide your views on this.
Relevant answer
Answer
I think some MDPI journals are problematic. Others are pretty good, and have impact factors. But as of this writing (March 2024), they have suffered some scrutiny from Web of Science over issues like publishing too many articles and special issues (in certain journals) and having too much overlap among special issues, and some other problems. MDPI, as I understand, is working to manage these issues more carefully, though Web of Science (I have heard) has removed some otherwise pretty good journals of theirs from the Journal Citation Reports. I hope MDPI will fix these problems, but if you are going to submit to MDPI, be careful to check into your target journal carefully and see what others are saying and what they have been publishing recently.

I wish to find the doi of the article from journal's name, volume, and page. I believe that these information can uniquely determine the article ID (DOI). But as far as I searched with Google, no useful information is available. Google Scholar is not so convenient from this viewpoint. For me, it is tedious to repeat going to the journals' homepage and enter the vol. and pg. Thanks in advance for your kind suggestion,
Relevant answer
Answer
Finding a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) based on the journal’s name, volume, and page can be straightforward. Here are some steps you can take:
  1. Check the First Page of the Article: When you open a journal article on a database, the DOI is usually clearly visible. Look for it on the first page or near the publication date. The DOI might be formatted as “doi:10.1080/02626667.2018.1560449” or as a URL like "https://doi.org/10.1080/02626667.2018.1560449"1.
  2. Database Landing Pages: Some databases provide a “stable URL” that functions similarly to a DOI. For example:Taylor and Francis Online SAGE journals JSTOR (Note: JSTOR uses a different format, but their “stable URL” works like a DOI)1.
  3. Crossref: If you cannot find the DOI using the above methods, consider checking Crossref. Paste relevant information (such as author names, article title, journal name, volume, and page) into the “Search Metadata” box on the Crossref website. If the DOI exists, it will be displayed. If not, you can use a URL instead2.
  4. Citation Styles:APA Style: In APA citations, DOIs should be included whenever available. You can find the DOI on the first page of the article or the copyright page of a book. If you cannot find it, omit it from the citation. In the 7th edition of APA, format DOIs as URLs with “https://doi.org/” preceding the DOI. Harvard Style: When referencing a journal article in Harvard style, include the DOI if available3.
Remember that DOIs play a crucial role in scholarly communication, making it easier to retrieve and cite works. If you encounter any difficulties, consider reaching out to the journal or using Crossref to locate the DOI. Happy researching! 📚

I am unable to find any such journals on MedLine/ Pubmed / PMC except those pertaining to medical education/pedagogy.
I would appreciate suggestions of indexed journals with nominal APCs which are receptive to undergraduate medical research papers.

There are few journals such as diseases, scientia pharmaceutica by MDPI which mention impact factor on their journal page. But a perusal of JCR list does not mention these journals. Concerned editors suggested to refer to the Clarivate analytics page to confirm the IF. I do not have access to it. Request fellow colleagues who have access to the Clarivate analytics journal search database to confirm IF of these journals and share the screenshots if possible. Thanks.
Relevant answer
Answer
Your observation has to do with the fact that starting in 2023 Clarivate assign an impact factor to journal titles indexed in their ESCI database, see the announcement here https://clarivate.com/news/clarivate-announces-changes-to-the-2023-journal-citation-reports/
While in other years numerous RG members released the latest JCR report (with either only the impact factors or with the quartile Q info as well) it seems that Clarivate effectively prohibited this possibility (since the impact factor info etc. requires a license so payment). All the (incomplete) JCR lists of last year shared here on RG lack (impact factor etc.) info about the ESCI indexed journal titles.
However the good news is that the (claimed) index in ESCI can be checked free of cost here https://mjl.clarivate.com/home If you search for a title (like Scientia Pharmaceutica) and the info confirms the ESCI indexing then you can trust the impact factor info. I never saw examples where the journals lie about this when one visits the websites of journals from serious publishers (like Elsevier, Springer Nature, Wiley and also MDPI) so the impact factor mentioned can be trusted.
Best regards.

Do you think it is true, to see a scientific study as a source of income, from the race to be published by the journals to the publication of the symposium? Yes, money is spent on scientific efforts. And, this money must correspond to income. But the inventions, the patents that are the result of these efforts should be traded. I think that organizing so many symposiums, also being in the race for publication of articles by the open journals (or others), reduces the quality of science. What do you think about this?

I encountered a situation where I submitted an article to BMC, but unexpectedly, my preprint was published on ResearchSquare instead. However, I have since withdrawn my article from BMC, and now I need to remove the preprint from ResearchSquare as well, as requested by the new journal. I would appreciate any guidance or advice from individuals who have faced a similar issue on how to handle this situation
Relevant answer
Answer
I had submitted a manuscript to a journal (I am keeping it anonymous). I opted to make the preprint available online by mistake and the manuscript preprint appeared in the research square from the date of submission. The manuscript was rejected from the journal after the review process. The review process itself took more than one year. By the time, we (authors) switched to another institution and our affiliations, and our contact mail ids mentioned on the research square preprint became invalid. We noticed that the content of our preprint was copied from the research square to other repositories without any consent from us (authors). We got continuous rejections from other journals due to serious plagiarism when we tried to submit an extended version of our rejected manuscript. We regret to say that the preprint posted on the research square really became a trap that haunted us and spoiled our freedom to extend our research in the same direction and revise the manuscript. From our experience, other journals reject the manuscripts with preprints of previous journal submissions posted on the research square at editorial level itself. The name of the previous journal is clearly written on the research square preprint. As the journals get sufficiently large number of submissions, editors reject such papers at editorial level itself, to avoid further conflicts. A lot of hard work is involved in writing a research paper. It is so painful that authors are not able to submit their research work to a journal of own choice because of the issues caused by the preprint posted on the research square by mistake. We honestly request you to think twice before opting to publish preprints on research square during the manuscript submissions. Research square never removes the preprint content. They just keep the preprint content with a "Withdrawal Notification". The content will still cause problems during plagiarism checks.

Anybody got invited to submit his/her article to OPAST group? I recently received several emails from this network of OPAST journals (e.g. International Journal of Health Policy Planning), and I could not verify the reputation yet. Is there anyone with any knowledge about this so far? Thank you for the attention.
Relevant answer
Answer
Well first of all the publisher OPAST is mentioned in the Beall’s list (https://beallslist.net ) of potential predatory publishers. This is a red flag and by itself not enough to say they are predatory but there are more red flags:
-The most important is that their indexing info (https://www.opastpublishers.com/international-publisher/indexing-abstracting.html ) is full of so-called misleading metrics (https://beallslist.net/misleading-metrics/ ) such as OAJI and CiteFactor often used by predatory journals/publishers
-Their prominently mentioning of PubMed articles is a misleading practice (again often used by predatory journals/publishers. It is misleading since PubMed index papers where at least one of authors has a NIH grant and this is irrespective of the journal (in other words it says nothing about that particular journal)
-I checked one of their “most popular” authors and the picture they used for a certain Dr. Galyna Khrushch https://www.prof-medicina.ru/liposakciya/article/korrekciya-figuri--s-pomocshu-rf-liposakcii-body-tite is someone active in liposuction etc. but looking at Google Scholar not very active in writing serious scientific papers (actually I found none)
Best regards.

Please let me know, If i want to Publish our work in Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering, whether it belongs to OA OR SUBSCRIPTION based?
Relevant answer
Answer
The journal is as indicated by Harshitha Mahesh a subscription-based journal see https://link.springer.com/journal/11814 for more information. However, the journal is originally published by a Korean Society https://www.kiche.or.kr/kjche/ and if you open the already published issues and click on one of the papers you can download the paper. Making it effectively open access.
There are more journal titles in Springer’s portfolio published this way, like for example “Journal of Biosciences” where on the Springer site https://link.springer.com/journal/12038 the papers are behind a paywall while at the original publishing site https://www.ias.ac.in/Journals/Journal_of_Biosciences/ they are effectively open access. I’ve published a paper this way:
Best regards.
PS. Because of the above ‘construction’. I presume this journal is not a so-called hybrid journal (where you can opt. for open access) like for example “The Journal of Membrane Biology” https://link.springer.com/journal/232

We assume this to be true in a manner similar to the statistical modeling approach called Cairo techniques. Here, real time t exists in intervals quantized as a dimensionless integer 1,2 3 , . . .N and has been successfully used to solve time-dependent PDEs in 4D x-t unit space. some examples are heat diffusion versus time, Laplace and Poisson PDEs, sound volume and reverberation time in audio rooms, digital integration and differentiation, etc.
These classical physics solutions can be called statistical equivalence of the time-dependent diffusion problem.
[some examples are given by 1,2,3]
The Schrödinger PDE (SE) itself is no exception and the statistical equivalence of the SE exists.
Surprisingly, this SESE is more revealing and more comprehensive than the SE itself.
The route is quite long, how can we cross it?
1-A numerical statistical solution to the partial differential equations of Laplace and Poisson, Researchgate, IJISRT journal.
2-a statistical numerical solution for the time-dependent 3D heat diffusion problem without the need for the PD thermal equation or its FDM techniques, Researchgate, IJISRT journal.
3-Theory and design of audio rooms-A statistical view, Researchgate, IJISRT journal.
Relevant answer
Answer
Another way to describe quantum particle dynamics is to use statistical transition matrices that completely ignore the Schrödinger equation as if it never existed in the same way that one solves the heat diffusion equation without going through thermal PDE itself.
today we only know one physical transition matrix which is the transition matrix B resulting from the so-called Cairo technique.
Step 1
Construct the 2D statistical matrix B corresponding to Figure 1 which represents a quantum particle in a 2D infinite potential well.
📷
Fig 1. A quantum particle in a 2D infinite potential well
The basis for generating an eigen or proper matrix is the 2D matrix B with 9 equidistant free nodes as shown in Figure 2, nodes 1-9.
Note that RO=0 because PE is zero.
It is expressed by the same matrix M1 explained previously in the example of 2D thermal conduction.
step 2
Compose the proper or eigen matrix M2 as given by,
M2=M1+S(x,y)
Where S(x,y ) is a diagonal matrix and S=C1*V(x,y)
The resulting eigenmatrix M2 will be given by,
M2=
1/14 1/4 0 1/4 0 0 0 0 0
1/4 4/14 1/4 0 1/4 0 0 0 0

0 0 0 0 1/4 0 1/4 4/14 1/4
0 0 0 0 0 1/4 0 1/4 1/14
Where C1 is substituted for by the factor 1/14.
step 3
The energy eigenvector E(x,y) is equal to the principal diagonal of the matrix A which gives the following eigenvector equation,
2/14 1/4 0 1/4 0 0 0 0 0
1/4 4/14 1/4 0 1/4 0 0 0 0
0 1/4 2/14 0 0 1/4 0 0 0

0 0 0 0 1/4 0 1/4 4/14 1/4
0 0 0 0 0 1/4 0 1/4 2/14
*
[2/14  4/14  2/14  4/14  9/14  4/14  2/14  4/14  2/14]T
is equal to,
[8/49 123/392 8/49 123/392 137/196 123/392 8/49 123/392 8/49] T
Showing that the energy eigenvector is=
[2/14 4/14 2/14 4/14 9/14 4/14 2/14 4/14 2/14 ] T
with a dominant eigenvalue almost equal to 1.
The reason why we multiply the nodes 1,3,6 and 9 by the factor 2 is that these nodes are located at the four intersections of the two axes x and y where the rule E=Ex+Ey applies.
The x-oriented eigenvectors and the y-oriented eigenvectors are shown in Figure 2 in black and red lines.

Dear Sang woo Jung Interestingly enough both replies given to your question are either wrong or not answering your question.
The answer to your question is no you cannot add a new journal title by yourself, see https://help.researchgate.net/hc/en-us/articles/14293139566353-Journals Here they state that only CrossRef titles will eventually be listed.
The reply by Arsalan Rasheed refers to a new phenomenon (and a means for RG to generate some money) called "Journal Home"
Though the info is correct it does not means that paying 2000 euro will get your journal title listed in the database of RG (these are two different things).

Rather than getting to the basis of these arguments, I am simply looking for some signal processing or biomedical journals that may follow a more logical review process.

2) Focus on experimental research work
3) Focus on patents based on original research work

The number of participants and their demographics could be a factor. Race and differences in cardiometabolic issues might be influencing the differences miRNA expression. Try look at the DEGs associated with the miRNAs that didn't match up, this will give you more insight into what's happening. It could be technical differences like choice of housekeeping genes, normalization process.

Some journals on Education such as Springer's Discover Education and MDPI's Education Sciences are rather new journals that have yet to attain an impact factor. The question is, would you submit a manuscript to any of these journals or opt to well-established venues such as the IEEE Transactions on Education?
I am raising this question to initiate a discussion. Kindly provide the pros and cons of choosing to submit a manuscript to any of the aforementioned journals.
Relevant answer
Answer
You question the legitimacy of the journal “Discovery Education” (https://link.springer.com/journal/44217 ). I have a number of papers published by Springer and the lay-out changed over the last couple of weeks/months (?), see for example:
If I recall correctly then this lay-out was first used for exclusively open access journal titles published by Springer but it is now for all their titles.
So, SpringerLink is definitely a Springer product and no sign of being predatory.
As you can see at https://link.springer.com/journal/44217 they don’t promise a 7 days turn-over time but an average “First decision” time of 7 days, meaning that the editor will decide to hand-over your manuscript for peer review or decide for desk rejection. I am pretty sure that this journal will get their indexing (Scopus, Clarivate’s ESCI etc.) pretty soon, for now one can benefit of a little launching discount https://link.springer.com/journal/44217/updates/19784724
Best regards.

Are there any journals that take this sort of papers?
Relevant answer
Answer
There are two different strategies for submitting this type of work: 1) find a statistical journal that accepts more applied work or 2) find a scientific journal that finds your work of interest. What scientific, engineering, or medical problem are you trying to solve with your new method? What does your work add or provide to the community that is not addressed in the current literature? Once you know the answer to these two questions, you can better determine which journal to submit.

- Limit your sources for research to the last 10 years.
- Prioritize the lead authors and main studies you argue with.
- Summarize theses, findings, and insights in a result-oriented way by referring only to the most important sources.
- Consider whether you need to cite sources for commonplaces that can be assumed to be widely known.

When writing a journal paper about deep learning and image classification, there are several key aspects to focus on to ensure acceptability and quality:
  1. Clear Problem Statement: Start by clearly defining the problem you're addressing in the context of image classification. Explain the significance of the problem and why it matters.
  2. Literature Review: Provide a comprehensive review of existing literature related to deep learning in image classification. This demonstrates your knowledge of the field and the context for your work.
  3. Methodology: Describe in detail the deep learning techniques, models, and algorithms you are using. Justify your choices and explain how they are suitable for the specific problem you are addressing.
  4. Data Collection and Preprocessing: Explain how you collected and preprocessed your image data. Discuss any data augmentation techniques, labeling processes, and data splitting for training and testing.
  5. Model Training: Describe the training process, including hyperparameter tuning, optimization algorithms, and any regularization techniques employed. Mention the hardware and software tools you used.
  6. Experiments and Results: Present your experimental setup, including metrics used for evaluation. Report results clearly, using tables, figures, and charts. Discuss not only the accuracy but also other relevant metrics like precision, recall, F1-score, etc.
  7. Discussion: Interpret the results and discuss their implications. Compare your findings to prior research and explain any differences. Address any unexpected results.
  8. Contributions: Highlight the novel contributions of your work. What sets your approach apart from previous work in the field?

Journal Impact Factor (JIF) or Impact Factor (IF) of an academic journal is a measure, calculated by the yearly average number of citations to recent articles published in that particular journal. This article explains how to find the impact factor of a journal in detail.
Impact Factor is the more valuable parameter among the academicians, in order to select the journal for publication. It also helps to identify the trustworthiness of the facts given in that journal.
The h-index can be calculated automatically in Web of Science and Scopus or manually in other databases that provide citation information (e.g. SciFinder, PsychINFO, Google Scholar). In this article, we are going to find out, How the journal impact factor and h-index are calculated ?

Answer
As you know the “Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing” (https://www.hindawi.com/journals/wcmc/about/ ) is one of the journals delisted by Clarivate from the WoS indexes ESCI, SCIE etc. see for the complete list for example here https://retractionwatch.com/2023/03/21/nearly-20-hindawi-journals-delisted-from-leading-index-amid-concerns-of-papermill-activity/ as indicated here this means and I quote “Removing a journal from Web of Science means Clarivate will no longer index its papers, count their citations, or give the title an impact factor, which can have negative effects for authors, as universities rely on such metrics to judge researchers’ work for tenure and promotion decisions. The company also suppresses journals from its yearly Journal Citation Report that publishes impact factors, as we’ve reported in the past.”
There is more bad news since the journal is also discontinued from Scopus https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/17543 if you click on “Scopus content coverage” it is clear that in 2021 the journal started to accept and publish suspiciously more papers (all caused by the introduction of more special issues).
There is however also some ‘good’ news in this matter:
-If you look at the Scopus source list (see enclosed file) and click on the tab “Discontinued title Sept. 2023” then it is clear that the coverage in Scopus stops here
Art. No. 9898169 (January 21st 2023) Retracted: Text Mining Based on the Lexicon-Constrained Network in the Context of Big Data meaning that your paper is still indexed in Scopus
-Not entirely sure how this will work with the indexing with Clarivate (I have no access to the database since I have no license) but it would not surprise me if it is more or less the same as with Scopus
-Even if the indexing in WoS does not count for your paper I think there is reason for some optimism that the journal will get the impact factor back in a reasonably short time (since the ‘problem’ is identified and the publishing partner Wiley is having a good reputation)
Hope this clarifies the matter somewhat.
Best regards.

I think that mentoring programmes support in meeting publishers' expectations.
Relevant answer
Answer
Whether there are special mentoring programs for prospective reviewers in tourism science, I do not know ad hoc. But I would not want to rely on this, especially since there are a number of low-threshold opportunities to participate in the scientific discourse as a 'reviewer'. For instance, in each discipline there are relevant scientific journals with appropriate sections in which I can submit small independent reports and articles (such as conference reports or book reviews). Over time, I not only acquired important knowledge and gained basic experience in terms of publications and reviews, but I also slowly became noticed in the scientific community. Then it is usually only a small step to actively participate once in a regular peer review on the relevant example.

Answer
The published papers look in terms of lay-out highly professional, but I see a number of disturbing things:
-International Sci Ink Press Ltd (https://mdpub.net/?sec=aboutpublisher ) is the publisher of not only “International Journal of Medical Reviews and Case Reports” but also of the very similar looking “International Journal of Surgery and Medicine” (https://www.ejos.org/index.php ) and a unsuccessful journal titled “International Journal of Agricultural Biotechnology and Food Sciences” (https://www.agropub.net )
-Contact info (57 Antim I str., Vazrazhdane, Sofia, 1303, Bulgaria) leads to well … not Sofia’s finest neighborhood
-The owner/editor published a suspiciously large number of papers in his own journal(s) see research items here https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Ivan-Inkov
-The journal management system eJM (eJManager) is mentioned in the Beall’s list (https://beallslist.net ), see also https://forbetterscience.com/2023/01/25/the-pullulating-polyps-of-omics/ where eJM was discussed not that positively
-Indexing info https://mdpub.net/index.php?sec=jindex mentions ESJI and ASI examples of so-called misleading metrics (https://beallslist.net/misleading-metrics/ )
-Not sure where some found the info about their impact factor but be clear this journal (https://mdpub.net ) has NO impact factor (simply because they are not indexed in Clarivate’s ESCI/SCIE or SSCI index, which can be checked here https://mjl.clarivate.com/home )
-The same is true for Scopus, they are NOT indexed in Scopus which can be checked here https://www.scopus.com/sources.uri?zone=TopNavBar&origin=searchbasic and not indexed in PubMed (or PMC)
So not sure whether predatory is the right word but the lack of any serious indexing would for me personally mean: avoid this one.

Hello RG Community,
I recently received an email from "Oncology Editorial Committee" of "Medical Research Archives".
Dear Dr. Muhammad Haseeb,
I wanted to get in touch with you about your liver cancer work. I enjoyed your article "[Redacted]" and was wondering what further research you have done on this topic. This year I am helping to create a special theme issue titled New Perspectives on Liver Cancer which will be published in the official journal of the European Society of Medicine. Your work could be a valuable addition to the theme issue and I hope you would be willing to discuss the possibility of preparing an article.
Is this something you might consider? Best Regards,
Section editor Oncology Editorial Committee Medical Research Archives European Society of Medicine ISSN: 2375-1924 NLM (PubMed) ID: 101668511
It seems a predatory journal and some other researchers have found the same.
For Example:
Polite invitation to submit article: Predatory journal's new strategy - PMC (nih.gov)
European Society of Medicine solicitations | OIT | Brown University
Beware of these kinds of emails! | ResearchGate
UG/UMCG authors falling prey to fraudulent/predatory publishing practices | Open access | University of Groningen Library | University of Groningen (rug.nl)
The journal name "Medical Research Archives" confuses with its Look Alike, Sound Alike (LASA) journal "Archives of Medical Research", a ScienceDirect journal.

I am helping to plan a special theme issue on nursing to be published early next year in the official journal of the European Society of Medicine. The issue will highlight recent developments in nursing and feature a variety of types of articles. Your paper from a while ago "Comparison between generations of factors influencing the attitude of discrimination against the elderly: For nursing college students and their mothers† " was of particular interest to me and I thought perhaps you might consider preparing a new article to be part of the theme issue. I would be interested to learn about any further research you have done in this area.
A brief overview of the issue may be found here: Challenges and Opportunities in Nursing.

Dear Heraiz Rabah It used to be a decent journal which till 2020 it was hosted here https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/intjecse just select a paper here and see genuine peer review and well-edited papers. Somewhere round 2020 the whole operation felt apart. Whether this journal is the victim of hijacking or is now poorly managed is not entirely clear, but if one look at the facts then the following is clear:
-The journal is discontinued in Scopus https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/21100201518 and the highly suspicious increase in accepted and published papers in 2020 and 2021 (as one can see if you click on Scopus coverage content) is most likely one of the reasons for this discontinuation
-The Scopus coverage (look at Tab “Discontinued titles Sept. 2023” columns GHI in the enclosed file) stopped at Volume 13 issue 2 2021
-The journal “International Journal of Early Childhood Special Education” is/was according to ISSN: 1308-5581 (https://portal.issn.org/resource/ISSN/1308-5581 ) published by Anadolu University and according to Scopus https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/21100201518 their homepage is https://www.int-jecse.net
-This homepage is remarkably similar to Hindawi lay-out (see for example https://www.hindawi.com/journals/bri/ ), this is stealing…
-If you scroll down then you see logos of DOAJ (no member), Scopus (discontinued) and Clarivate’s ESCI (delisted, see enclosed file), so false info
-Volume 11, issue 2, 2019 on this (fake?) website contains papers (see for example https://www.int-jecse.net/article/Evolution+of+English+Language+in+India_5895/ ) which are not present in the real journal https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/intjecse/issue/51703
-Too many items on the homepage do not seem to work if you click on them, for example contact us (I was unable to find contact info, physical address…)
So, way too many issues. Personally, I would say: avoid.
Best regards.

There are two different websites for the same journal. Which is correct and which is fake? Journal's Name:
International Journal of Science, Mathematics and Technology Learning
(ISSN: 2327-915X)
Please, confirm which is correct and which is fake?
Relevant answer
Answer
I think that your interpretation of the answer of Scopus is not entirely true. They respond with the message that the journal “International Journal of Science, Mathematics and Technology Learning” is indexed in Scopus, and this is true.
In your question was ‘hidden’ whether the homepage link you provided is the real one. I am sure that the Scopus employee didn’t interpretated the question in that respect and never looked at the link you provided in that way.
If you look at https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/21100258629 then you see that there is no link to the homepage. Such a link is normally always present. In my experience with these matters there are basically only two reasons why the link is absent:
-Scopus is unable to provide a reliable homepage link or noticed that there are multiple links and they did not received the final confirmation which one is legit
-Scopus noticed that there is something wrong with the journal title (for example papers are provided by another player and causes a suspicious increase in accepted/published papers). In other words, the journal is under evaluation
In this case I think that indeed (as indicated by the Scopus employee) this journal is not under evaluation, but they noticed that something is wrong with (one of) the homepage link(s) and another team is investigating this matter.
You are absolutely right that this way of operation is sloppy and that the ‘first line’ customer service employees are not aware of all the ins and outs is part of the problem. However, I think if you rephrase the question and would ask specifically to the legitimacy of the false link that the same employee would redirect your question to someone who is able to answer your question and most likely will provide you with the right answer.
But again, I agree that this way of working does not give the impression that these types of cases have a high priority within Scopus and therefor cause unnecessary high number of victims.
Best regards.

I honestly never heard of this publisher but as far as I can see “IMR Press” is a legit and genuine publisher (https://www.imrpress.com ). This is based on the following facts:
-The have currently seven of their journal title indexed in Scopus (just check here https://www.scopus.com/sources.uri?zone=TopNavBar&origin=searchbasic )
-They are member of DOAJ (https://doaj.org )
-A number of these titles are indexed in Clarivate’s SCIE and/or PubMed
These are strong indications that this is a publisher that fulfills quite a number of quality requirements when it comes to scientific publishing.
The journal “Journal of Integrative Neuroscience” is indexed in Scopus, Clarivate’s SCIE, PubMed (and even better in Medline) etc. Personally, I find the APC of 2200 USD quite high.
But the answer to your question is that this publisher is legit.
