Please note that ResearchGate is not a publisher and not a journal, you cannot "publish" a paper here. It is a platform for papers published in journals, or to present unpublished texts, data etc. See also "Is ResearchGate a publisher?" in https://help.researchgate.net/hc/en-us/articles/14292596164753. See this help page for instructions how to add published or unpublished research to ResearchGate: https://help.researchgate.net/hc/en-us/articles/14293005132305-How-to-add-research.
You should look for a journal in your field of research and submit your paper there. See also the following discussions for recommendations:

I am wondering what folks have tried for alternative methods of detecting hepatitis B core antigen/capsid. Dako used to make an antibody that was very effective in this and widely used in the field, but since their acquisition by Agilent it is no longer made and there are no validated substitutes. We have already spoken to Agilent and checked Biocompare, and while several similar-sounding ones seem to exist, they all lack references or any figures showing that they work for western blots. All publications using immunoassay detection of this protein still use the Dako antibody. Has anyone found another antibody that works, even if you're not publishing with it yet?
Relevant answer
Santa Cruz Biotech has a variety of anti-HBcAg monoclonal antibodies. We use sc-23946 for detection by ELISA. This seems to be similar to the old 222-1 monoclonal and recognizes an epitope at HBc aa120-140. We use this antibody in ELISA detection and it appears to well-exposed on intact HBcAg particles as well as on denatured particles. You can message me if you would like to know more.

Thinking of journals as “low tier” or “high tier” is distracting from what you actually need to do, which is good work. Do your work as best you can, and publish in the fanciest journal that will accept your papers. Trying to over-optimize will lead to a lot of wasted time and lost productivity, which might end up hurting your chances for future jobs. And you also don’t want to give the impression that you’re more interested in the journal you publish in than in the work you do.
The main difference between a “high tier” journal and a “lower tier” one is that the high tier selects papers that have more surprising results, and are more likely to be wrong. You read that right — results in “fancy” journals such as Nature or Science are pretty often wrong, which makes sense given that they are “groundbreaking”. When doing groundbreaking work, it’s likely you’ll make a lot of mistakes; that’s the price you pay for going too far off the beaten path. Results that make it to more average journals are more mundane, but for that reason it’s also easier to make them more rigorous, and thus it’s less likely they’re wrong.
Remember also that no journal has dedicated reviewers. The people reviewing your work will be essentially the same, whether in Nature (impact factor >30) or in PLOS (impact factor about 3). So a fancy journal selects for how amazing your work sounds more than for how good it is.
That said, of course you want to stay away from the creepy “journals” that invite you to publish your work in them without getting your name right or having any idea what your work is about. It’s probably better to not publish at all than publish there. In some fields — like theoretical physics and most of math — people only really care about the results being available on a preprint server like the arXiv and don’t care where the work ends up being published. This is starting to become more popular in some areas of biology, too, with the bioRxiv (preprint server for Biology).
Another common sense thing to do is to first try publishing your work in a journal that’s just a bit fancier than you think your results are. If they reject your paper, go down the ladder. So if you’ve found a nice, new result that seems somewhat surprising, it’s worth considering submitting it to Nature or Science (or whatever the fancy journal of choice is in your field), just in case they like it. But if your work is a rather obvious extension of existing work, you might be better off heading for a more specialized journal that puts less emphasis on groundbreaking results.

There are several factors to consider when deciding whether to publish in a low-tier journal as a PhD student:
Pros:
  • Get Published Faster: Lower-tier journals often have faster review times and publication cycles. This can be beneficial for PhD students who need publications to fulfill degree requirements or boost their CV for job applications.
  • Less Competitive: Low-tier journals may be less competitive than top-tier publications, making it easier for a PhD student to get their work accepted. This can be particularly encouraging for new researchers.
  • Gain Publishing Experience: The process of writing, submitting, and revising a manuscript is valuable for any researcher. Publishing in any journal can help you develop these skills.
Cons:
  • Limited Visibility and Impact: Low-tier journals typically have lower readership and citation rates compared to top-tier journals. This means your research may reach a smaller audience and have less influence on the field.
  • Potential Damage to Reputation: Publications in some low-tier journals might reflect poorly on your academic credibility. Carefully research the reputation of the journal before submitting.
  • Detracts from Job Prospects: While some publications are better than none, some employers, particularly in prestigious academic institutions, might prioritize candidates with publications in high-impact journals.
Alternative Strategies
  • Aim High, But Have a Backup Plan: Start by targeting high-impact journals in your field. Be prepared for potential rejections and have lower-tier options in mind if needed.
  • Conferences and Presentations: Presenting your research at conferences can be a valuable way to disseminate your findings and gain recognition, while also building your network.
  • Focus on Quality Research: Ultimately, the quality of your research is most important. Strong research, even if published in a lower-tier journal, will attract attention and citations.
Making the Decision:
The decision to publish in a low-tier journal should be made on a case-by-case basis. Consider the following factors:
  • Quality of the Journal: Research the journal's reputation, editorial board, and past publications.
  • Importance of Publication: How important is it for you to get published quickly?
  • Strength of Your Research: Is your research strong enough to be competitive in a top-tier journal?
General Advice:
  • Discuss with your advisor: Seek guidance from your PhD advisor regarding publication strategies and appropriate journals for your field.
  • Prioritize Quality: Always aim for reputable journals that uphold rigorous peer-review processes.
  • Build a Strong Publication Portfolio: Ideally, your PhD research should culminate in publications in a variety of journals, high-tier and potentially lower-tier depending on the specific project.

Good Day researchers.
I am currently looking for some journals that have high acceptance rate(AR) and average impact factor(IF). My work is on battery materials.
I am currently looking at "The Chemical Record" and "Scientific Report". Both have an impact factor of around 5 and an acceptance rate >50%.
However I feel those should be my safe bet, and I should aim for something with higher impact factor (around 10) and with >36% acceptance rate.
Do you have any Journal suggestions? Is there a centralized place I can see what are my options? I feel a place we can see most journals' IFs and ARs can help researchers greatly in selecting where to publish.

Is publishing new research the best way to increase RG scores or there are more effective ways to get the scores?
Relevant answer
Answer
The "Research Interest Score" (RIS) calculated by ResearchGate is based on citations, "Reads" by members and recommendations (see https://help.researchgate.net/hc/en-us/articles/14293473316753-Research-Interest-Score). Therefore, a publication alone does not increase the RIS. On the other hand, the RIS can relatively easily be manipulated with the help of friends who are also members of ResearchGate. Therefore, the RIS should not be taken too seriously. Why are you interested in increasing it?

The journal belongs to the Open Access Publishing Group which is categorized as predatory publishing under Beall's list but after checking the journal, it is not included. Since it is published under predatory publishing, should the journal be considered predatory?
Relevant answer
Answer
The short answer is yes. The ‘logic’ behind the Beall’s list (https://beallslist.net ) is and I quote: “All journals published by a predatory publisher are potentially predatory unless stated otherwise.” Looking somewhat into the details behind the journal “European Journal of Social Sciences Studies” (https://oapub.org/soc/index.php/EJSSS/index ):
-The indexing info is full of so-called misleading metrics like CiteFactor and OAJI (https://beallslist.net/misleading-metrics/ ) often used by predatory journals/publishers
-Despite the Romanian origin (according to the vague contact info) no one in the editorial board has any link with this country https://oapub.org/soc/index.php/EJSSS/about/editorialTeam
-The APC is (for a claimed) European Journal suspiciously low https://oapub.org/soc/index.php/EJSSS/about/editorialPolicies#custom-7
-Looking at for example https://oapub.org/soc/index.php/EJSSS/issue/view/131 I see numerous papers that has nothing to do with the scope of journal
-Even it is somewhat genuine they have even after almost ten years no serious indexing (Scopus, Clarivate’s ESCI, SCIE or SSCI, PubMed, etc.)
Personally, I would say avoid.
Best regards.

Answer
This is (becoming) a highly complicated issue. I think the number one reason why this matter is so hard to solve is: how to determine what is really predatory?
It is only since fairly recent that a serious attempt has been made to come up with a definition:
They state at the end of the paper “The publish-or-perish culture, a lack of awareness of predatory publishing and difficulty in discerning legitimate from illegitimate publications fosters an environment for predatory publications to exist.”
First the last point, discerning legitimate from illegitimate: Although in let’s say 80% of the cases mentioned in the Beall’s list (https://beallslist.net ) the predatory behavior is obvious and can be identified as such for certain there are a significant number of journals and publishers which listing is unjustified. Most likely those cases suffer from lack of resources and are somewhere along the road in their ‘learning curve’. To estimate the degree of (low) quality and inexperience is a tough task
Second the point of awareness of predatory publishing: Increase the awareness of predatory publishing is I think the most important and promising way to tackle this problem. Paraphrasing what is said by Wolfgang R. Dick “If no one fall for the false promises and are informed about these practices then this business model stops working”
Third the publish-or-perish culture ‘fuels’ the phenomenon of predatory publishing: Indeed, as pointed out by Wolfgang R. Dick no longer giving any kind of credit for publishing in these type of journals will discourage scientists to publish in such journals. However, again, it is extremely difficult (besides the obvious ones) to determine whether the paper is published in a ‘real’ predatory journal
How hard it is to discriminate between legit and illegitimate journals is illustrated by for example the ever-growing list of discontinued journal titles Scopus publish and updates on a regular base (see for the latest version enclosed file).
Having said all this it might be a good first step to act against all the obvious cases where there is no doubt that they are predatory.
Best regards.

I am wondering about publishing a protocol for an interventional, prospective trial, but I am unsure about funding the trial. On one hand, I believe publishing a study protocol generates interest, on the other hand, I am not sure if there will be funding or participation from the relevant clinics.
Relevant answer
Answer
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: The possibility of publishing a study protocol under uncertain funding hinges on the policies of the respective journal; some will not consider study protocols without major external funding or ethics approval for publication.
In any event, adherence to the SPIRIT guidelines for the reporting of trial protocols and transparent reporting with regard to the status of the research at submission are essential.

Some of these have structural similarity with the human ones, and that is why the antibody work. In the paper, probably dont known the right TET maker that is detected and they use the common term.

You seem to be a passionate defender of this publisher and make no mistake you are entitled to. ‘Accusing’ me of spreading misinformation is however too strongly put. All I did was giving a factual summary. The thing is, as I indicated:
-They ARE mentioned in the Beall’s list. Since numerous versions of this list are spread across the web all over the place, people searching for CSP and predatory will find their inclusion in the list.
-Your statement that predatory only refers to journals is not entirely true. There are predatory journals (and predatory publishers publishing journals) but there are predatory conferences and predatory book publishers as well, see for example https://libguides.tcd.ie/schol-comm/predatory-publishers
-Jeffrey Beall was not extremely consistent when it comes to publishers that transferred their focus to book publishing. See for example InTech Open where he states, and I quote “InTechOpen now only publishes books. They are still considered to be predatory.”
-The mentioning of a link referring to issues in 2017 was not intended to provide arguments for the current situation but simply an explanation for how they ended up in the Beall’s list (I added a comment on this in my previous reply)
You are absolutely right by stating that the publisher should not be included (anymore) in the Beall’s list. Since the list is/was exclusively focused on open access journals (which was/is a biased approach and one of the points of criticism at the time the list started). Unfortunately already at the time when Jeffrey Beall was behind his list it was clear that he was primarily focused on adding journals and publishers on his list and was extremely reluctant in removing one.
Unfortunately, they are listed, and a lot of people wrongfully use a list like the Beall’s list as “the absolute truth”. Therefor I wanted to point out that they (CSP) are mentioned. Personally, I use the list merely as an indication to look further and make my own ‘judgement’ (based on way more than just the mentioning in a list).
It is a good sign that there are people like you that vouch for them (and a good number of replies mention positive experiences). Let us agree to disagree about the reputation of this publisher and let people make their own estimate on whether they want to get involved with this publisher or not.
Best regards.

As we have decided to take this research further for publication, I would like to gather your insights on selecting appropriate journals, approaching them, how the university affiliation can help, the ethical process, and whether we can take assistance from a guide or the university. We appreciate any additional insights or experiences you may have on the topic.

Dear Vinod, publication in any field, let alone Psychology, is not an exact science. While we would like to believe that the publication process is completely bias-free and accessible for everyone, the reality is that there is a definite learning curve.
Both publications and the publishers (Journals, Books, etc.) vary in terms of their quality, acceptance rate, aims and scopes, and charges. This makes navigating this landscape possibly overwhelming, especially for a student. I know I was when I began, and even now, I would not say that I know all the ins and outs.
So, here is what I suggest.
1. Be a part of a good research team: The most success I have gotten in terms of publication has been as a part of teams (or research bubbles) on various topics. I can say that working with these teams has taught me about topics I wouldn't have come across otherwise.
2. Browse through journals: This is advice that I have given to my master's students, who are looking to publish as well. Look through recent publications in your areas of interest and see what journals they have used. Look at them; look at other similar ones, which might be easier to access. Go through their aims and scopes etc, and you will find the right one for you.
3. Take risks: You won't get any publications from not sending papers to journals. Rejection is a part of the process, and the reviewer's comments will generally improve the papers.
4. Talk to people: You are doing that already, so keep doing it. But make sure that your researchgate connections translate in real life, and you develop professional contacts as well.
I think this is enough for a brief idea, but, I am always looking for driven, inspiring people to work with, maybe we can connect further?

Dear Md Foysal Ahmed There are most likely no journals that combine and speed and no costs (and being Q1).
For Q1 journals you can choose subscription based journals (or so-called hybrid journals where you can decline the open access option), they charge you nothing (in most cases).
You can have a look at the enclosed file (incomplete but with correct info) for Clarivate indexed journals.
For Q1 Scopus indexed journals you can have a look at SCImago:

ResearchGate does a pretty good job of tracking publication analytics such as reads and citations over time. The recommendations feature can also be an interesting indicator for a publication's resonance with the scholarly community.
This progress allow for ideas to be developed about how to make the analytics features even better in the future. Here are some ideas I have been thinking about:
  • something equivalent to Altmetric that tracks social media mentions across multiple platforms and mentions in news articles, conference proceedings, etc.
  • more longitudinal data for individual publications by month and year
  • the ability to compare the performance of one's own publications, with perhaps a way to rank them in analytic reports by reads, citations, etc.
  • More specific analytics to allow for comparisons within and between departments on an individual and collective basis, which can be sorted by discipline, field, etc.
Are there any additional analytics features that you would like to see on ResearchGate?
Relevant answer
Answer
That's a fair point. I am interested metrics like reads because my research focuses on student government and I have noticed that a lot of my readers appear to be students. These students may not yet be publishing academic works or they may be in a different discipline, but even though they are not formally citing the publications in journals, they may be using them to help with student government activities in practice. Keeping an eye on reads and the countries where the readers are may give indications about new student-led initiatives that are emerging. I'm curious about what the potential impacts could be and how this may correspond with changes in metrics like reads over time.

I am interested in learning about environmental science, climate change, and sustainable development concepts in children's and teachers minds and would like to do some research and review on the related topics. I need some help to know the topic of the environmental education subject and related reputed journals (UGC care list with less publishing time)
Relevant answer
Answer
Exploring the topic of environmental education and related concepts in children's and teachers' minds is an important area of research with various potential topics. Here are some suggested topics within environmental education that you could consider for your research:
  1. "The Impact of Environmental Education Programs on Children's Knowledge, Attitudes, and Behaviors towards Climate Change"
  2. "Assessing the Effectiveness of Sustainable Development Curriculum in Schools: Perspectives from Teachers and Students"
  3. "Integrating Climate Change Education into Elementary School Curriculum: Challenges and Opportunities"
  4. "The Role of Environmental Education in Promoting Pro-Environmental Behavior among Children and Adolescents"
  5. "Teachers' Perceptions and Practices of Environmental Education: A Case Study in (Please Indicate Your Specific Region or Country)"
As for reputed journals in the field of environmental education and related topics, here are some journals that are widely recognized and indexed in UGC CARE list with relatively shorter publishing times:
  1. Environmental Education Research
  2. The Journal of Environmental Education
  3. Sustainability Science
  4. Environmental Education and Information
  5. Journal of Sustainability Education
These journals typically cover a range of topics related to environmental science, climate change, sustainable development, and environmental education, and they often publish research articles, reviews, and case studies related to these areas. Be sure to check the specific focus and scope of each journal to ensure that your research topic aligns with their editorial interests.

Retraction is removing an article from the scientific record at any point after its publication. Retraction is distinct from withdrawal, which occurs prior to publication. Also, in contrast to withdrawal, retractions are visible to the scientific community, as the original papers are typically preserved as part of the publication record.

Determining whether a book seems like a rough draft or a final version can depend on various factors such as writing style, editing quality, formatting, and coherence of ideas. Here are some indicators that might suggest whether a book leans more towards a rough draft or a final version:
1. Writing Quality: In a final version, the writing is typically polished, with clear and concise language. A rough draft may contain more errors, inconsistencies, and awkward phrasing.
2. Editing: A final version usually undergoes thorough editing to correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors, as well as to improve overall readability. A rough draft may still contain many of these errors and may lack the refinement that comes with professional editing.
3. Formatting: A final version often features professional formatting, including consistent font styles, page layout, and chapter headings. In contrast, a rough draft may have inconsistent formatting or lack attention to detail in this area.
4. Coherence of Ideas: In a final version, the ideas are typically well-developed and organized logically throughout the book. Transitions between sections are smooth, and there is a clear structure to the content. In a rough draft, ideas may be less fully developed, and the organization may feel disjointed or incomplete.
5. Consistency: A final version tends to maintain consistency in characters, plot, themes, and style throughout the book. In contrast, a rough draft may contain inconsistencies or contradictions that haven't been resolved yet.
6. Feedback and Reviews: Reviews and feedback from beta readers or early reviewers can also provide insights into whether a book feels more like a rough draft or a final version. Positive reviews often indicate that the book is well-polished and ready for publication, while negative reviews may point out areas where the book still needs improvement.
Ultimately, it's important to consider all of these factors together when assessing whether a book seems like a rough draft or a final version. Keep in mind that some authors may choose to self-publish rough drafts or early versions of their work, so the distinction may not always be clear-cut.

I have been considering ways to improve my academic reputation, and I think publishing more papers and increasing the likelihood of citations is a good start. One option is to publish a book or a chapter, in addition to submitting innovative works to high-quality journals and conferences. I'm curious about whether publishing a book would make a significant difference in enhancing my academic reputation or not.

As I search for a publisher for my seventh book, I believe publishing a book is valuable for you and your audience. However, it is not always easy. What a book can do for you, besides making your resume look great, is allow you to share your knowledge of a topic in-depth. Once you start writing a book, you will learn more about your topic, thus increasing your expertise. Plus, it is just fun! For your information, nonfiction book publishers do not generally require you to have an agent. Fiction book publishers usually do.
I also write journal articles, which can give many others an understanding of important information. Two years ago, my colleagues and I wrote an article evaluating a continuing education course on human trafficking for health professionals. Now, 14 people have cited that research and most have developed their own training programs.
I am not too enamored of book chapters, although it depends greatly on the book. For the time and energy, I prefer a journal article.
Good luck with your project!

Dear Abdul Rahman It sounds indeed quite strange. All I can think of is that in the very beginning you didn't indicate that you decline the option for open access and 'the system' use a payment as requirement for publication.
Not sure whether this happened but even then it is strange that their decision is withdrawal. Paying or not should never be of influence whether a paper is accepted and published.

Publishing preprint of manuscripts is a growing trend now in academic writing and publication. Preprint gives a heads up and an insight into a particular issue that is worthy of investigation. Recently, I have also observed though with awe about the growing trend researchers citing preprint work even though these works have still not gone through peer reviewing. So my concern is whether it is scientifically ethical for a researcher to cite preprint works even though these works have not gone through scientific grilling from peers- don't get me wrong preprint are cool and platforms like Research Square are doing a great job publishing preprints, but are such preprints usable in scientific writing referencing?
Relevant answer
Answer
It is common to assume that a publication went through a rigorous process of review has  value while a publication that did not is actually not published.  For same, this statement is right and other cases It is erroneous.   Grisha Perlman did not publish his  proof of the Poincaré Conjecture. Thus his work is unpublished and worthless. Of course, this claim is nonsense.  While this case is a special case. Nonetheless, there are cases. My personal experience about my work is a bit strange.    My works that were published are what I call above the averaged quality  but my works that officially that did not officially published are breakthroughs.  My work in October was  (what I understand) the most read in the month Oct on RG.
This work is part my efforts the radically change erroneous science ship stability and navigation.  A work that shows that  Euler, Bernoulli, and Foude were wrong in dealing with ship stability.
Of course, since no one will or can show that I am wrong I take it as the correct statement.  Assuming that I am correct, that means that my
work without publication is very important.    Well time will tellm but if that is the case in 20 years mean that my work was published?

Anybody got invited to submit his/her article to OPAST group? I recently received several emails from this network of OPAST journals (e.g. International Journal of Health Policy Planning), and I could not verify the reputation yet. Is there anyone with any knowledge about this so far? Thank you for the attention.
Relevant answer
Answer
Well first of all the publisher OPAST is mentioned in the Beall’s list (https://beallslist.net ) of potential predatory publishers. This is a red flag and by itself not enough to say they are predatory but there are more red flags:
-The most important is that their indexing info (https://www.opastpublishers.com/international-publisher/indexing-abstracting.html ) is full of so-called misleading metrics (https://beallslist.net/misleading-metrics/ ) such as OAJI and CiteFactor often used by predatory journals/publishers
-Their prominently mentioning of PubMed articles is a misleading practice (again often used by predatory journals/publishers. It is misleading since PubMed index papers where at least one of authors has a NIH grant and this is irrespective of the journal (in other words it says nothing about that particular journal)
-I checked one of their “most popular” authors and the picture they used for a certain Dr. Galyna Khrushch https://www.prof-medicina.ru/liposakciya/article/korrekciya-figuri--s-pomocshu-rf-liposakcii-body-tite is someone active in liposuction etc. but looking at Google Scholar not very active in writing serious scientific papers (actually I found none)

There is a difficulty in publishing human and social studies in international journals, especially research in different languages, that is, other than English, and for them to be included in Scopus databases.
Relevant answer
Answer
Publishing humanities and social studies research in international journals, especially those indexed in databases like Scopus, can indeed present certain challenges. Several factors contribute to the perceived difficulty in this regard:
  1. Language Barrier:English is the dominant language in international academic publishing. Many high-impact journals and indexing databases, including Scopus, prioritize English-language content. This can pose challenges for researchers conducting studies in other languages.
  2. Global Audience:Journals indexed in international databases often aim to reach a global audience. English is considered a lingua franca in academia, facilitating broader readership and collaboration. Researchers who publish in languages other than English may face limitations in terms of visibility and impact.
  3. Indexing Criteria:Indexing databases like Scopus have specific criteria for inclusion, and these criteria may favor journals that predominantly publish in English. Additionally, the review and selection processes for inclusion in such databases may be tailored to meet the expectations of an international readership.
  4. Peer Review Challenges:Journals aiming for international recognition often follow rigorous peer-review processes. Finding qualified reviewers who are proficient in the language of the manuscript can be a challenge for non-English submissions.
  5. Access to Resources:Researchers in humanities and social studies may face resource constraints, including limited access to English-language training, academic writing support, and translation services. This can affect the quality of manuscripts submitted for publication.
  6. Editorial Policies:Editorial policies of international journals, including those indexed in databases like Scopus, may prioritize certain types of research methodologies and theoretical frameworks that align with the expectations of a global readership.
  7. Cultural and Contextual Differences:Humanities and social studies often involve research that is deeply rooted in specific cultural and contextual settings. International journals may sometimes have a bias toward research that is more easily relatable or transferable across diverse cultural contexts.
Tips for Overcoming Challenges:
  • Collaborate with researchers who are proficient in English for language editing and review.
  • Seek support from language editing services to enhance the quality of writing.
  • Consider submitting to reputable journals that specialize in non-English content or have sections dedicated to such research.
  • Translate key findings or abstracts into English to enhance visibility.
  • Engage with international conferences to present research and network with scholars in the field.
While challenges exist, efforts to bridge language and accessibility gaps, coupled with advocacy for diverse linguistic contributions, can contribute to a more inclusive and global academic landscape.

Personally, I would say: go for it. As you said yourself you can publish open access for free (they will start to charge a pretty hefty fee for submissions next year). I don’t know if they know more than we do but according to the latest Scopus source list (see enclosed file) the are not listed (yet) and not included in the accepted list. What does it mean when the editor responds to your manuscript by stating that she "adopts the review of the reviewers", when those are "rejected" and "major revision / reject".

On the one hand, I understand what you are saying.
On the other hand, after centuries of development, you would expect standards to have been set.
On the third hand, which I realize is slightly difficult, you would expect at the minimum a publisher to follow its own rules and to evaluate a manuscript with the labels it stated it would evaluate them.
Apparently a minimum of consistency is too much to ask?

Is it acceptable to conduct a longitudinal study, but publish the first lot of results separately as a cross-sectional study?
Relevant answer
Answer
I think this can be legitimate if that cross-sectional study addresses distinct hypotheses/research questions than the longitudinal portion of the study, and/or if it would be too much to report both in a single paper. In any case, you should acknowledge in later papers that part of the data has already been published in a previous study. That way, confusion can be avoided, for example, when effect sizes are extracted from the papers later by other researchers for meta-analytic purposes etc.

I've read online that some journals published the pre-print even when it was not sent out for review, and that they refuse to take it down when asked by the authors. Even though the submission portal claims this won't be the case, I am not sure it can be trusted. Anyone have any thoughts?
Will this impede my chances of publishing in a different journal should the paper be rejected (before or after review)?
Many thanks!

I would like to inquire about the requirement of payment for publishing scientific research papers in international journals. Specifically, I am interested in knowing whether there are fees associated with the publication process. Additionally, I would greatly appreciate your recommendations for reputable fields or disciplines that offer opportunities for publication, with a preference for those that provide free publishing options, if such options exist. Thank you.

Answer
Unfortunately, in my experience, there are many paid ones. But there are also many unpaid ones, luckily (unless you choose open access as Dr Wolfgang R. Dick mentioned)).
I would suggest you need to keep looking for journals relevant to your topic of interest and choose a relevant unpaid one. Unpaid ones may have a slightly longer review time; that is potentially another disadvantage.

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/375072605 is a preprint, taken from Elsevier's server - click on the DOI link to go to the original page. According to an agreement with Elsevier, RG takes publications from their servers. You have to blame the publisher for putting a preprint online, not RG. However, I guess it is part of the authors' contract with Elsevier.

While the idea of multinational research collaborations is not new, the actualization of these collaborations in real-life is often hampered by several factors, such as ethnocentrism, racism, intellectual discrimination especially towards researchers from less developed region, funding, among others. However, for the cause of research to advance, there must be concerted and genuine efforts to tear down these barriers. This now begs the question: How can the barriers to multinational research collaborations be overcome? And what multinational research collaboration opportunities are available for early-career researchers right now????
Your input to this discussion is invaluable.

I will share with you our experience in Syria, where we face many global difficulties against us, and many blockades, even educational ones.
Many independent research teams (several researchers with or without a supervisor) and with exceptional individual efforts of these teams have achieved high scientific achievements that have raised Syria’s name high on the world level. He proved that despite marginalization and lack of opportunities, success is possible
As another Syrian experience, we continued in the research teams to spread awareness and continuity, and it developed into organized and licensed institutional work. We established an association for practical research, Stemosis for Scientific Research in Syria, which is an established and licensed scientific institution.
We now have many collaborations, albeit modest and few, with several scientific researchers, regardless of nationality.

Dear Santosh, from personal experience, I can tell that generally speaking, multilingual publication is readily available in book formats but not really as scientific journals publication.
Although there are formal journals that publish in various languages, the international standard has been English since the 1950's.
My own solution to this problem, since I wanted my publications to be available in 4 languages, was to have one formal publication in English, so formal publication status is established, and provide the translation to the other 3 languages on sites such as ResearchGate, with links allowing people to switch between the various languages.
Here is an example from my last published article:

We see more and more articles co-authored with a long list of contributors. However, as it is common practice to list the contributions of each author, we see that some co-authors have minor contribution, like only editing the paper, a supervising role, or providing a piece of equipment for the experiment. For some scientist these type of articles with minor contributions constitute more than half of their total publications. Those scientists will publish over 20 articles every year, which seems impressive, but in reality, they only have a minor contribution on each of these articles when they have one. Indeed, it becomes common to see scientists having a friendly agreement with each other (I put you on my articles, if you put me on your articles).
This contributes to create inflated CVs that can be unfair when it comes to hiring a new faculty, promotion, or tenure acquisition. It also dilutes the real contribution of the authors that did most of the work.
Therefore, do you think Editors and journals should ask to drop co-authors that didn't contributed significantly to a study?
Relevant answer
Answer
I agree. We should acknowledge the acknowledgement section more. It is obvious that research can't be done alone, but also that it usually isn't done by >10 authors (if not even >1-3). If coauthors provided data, datasets or data papers should be cited or, if this data is unpublished, there could be a section about contributed data or similar. That said, the first aim should be first publishing data that can get citations. We are already moving towards a higher credit for data provision and data papers - this is not worse than any other citation or publication.
Regarding the supervision, this depends on how strongly supervisors have been involved. However, other disciplines are even more restrictive in their authorship: even if supervisors and colleagues contributed (ideas, discussions, solutions), they would only list the first author(s) of the paper as authors. I like the approach as it makes it easier identifying who actually did the work and as it also enables us more easily to interact and discuss our findings with each other prior to publication (and without having in mind authorship or credit). This works also for editing the paper: editing could be done on the agreement basis (I read yours, you read mine). No disadvantages for anyone (right?). Instead, you can motivate yourself/ make time to read the work of colleagues. This usually leads to new ideas for your own projects, new concepts/tools/methods you didn't know about before or simply you learning something new.
In addition, having less authors on papers may help against the race in "fake" number of publications in CVs, as you described, Xavier Martini. We don't need 10 new papers per year; we need high quality research presented in a suitable way (which can be a paper, a dataset, a software or else). And if it is a larger project, it might take 2 years. Why not? It is not a gap in our CV when we conduct a long-term study. And even if it would be a gap, who was actually doing nothing during gaps in CV? We should values what was done and how, not how much of it.

Dear Bahi Selma,
the journal and the editors are 100% fair. My manuscript had to be submitted twice. In the first round, it was rejected based on professional reviews. I improved and revised the paper, and submitted it once again. Please consider that the whole process can be relatively long. I waited 16 months since the first submission for the acceptance. Would you like to know about the destructive satanic practices against me in my work at San Jose State University (SJSU) and the California Faculty Association (CFA) (It causes widespread collective injustice. I need your support.)?
Press Release for Book #14
November 5, 2023
Documentary Books series: Collective Injustice
Fourteenth Book: They (at San Jose State University (SJSU)) Robbed my Post (from Fall 2008 to Present)
Heraclitus said, "If it were not for injustice, man would not know justice." I had many instances of SJSU's collective injustice against me, as they deprived me of everything that belonged to me as a Senior Full professor. They robbed me of my post (from fall 2008 to the Present) as I was isolated from the department, college, and university. Moreover, they treated me like a persona non grata. To add insult to injury, they did not pay me my financial and employment dues as I calculated the amounts that were unlawfully stolen from me and my stolen rights to the job pension (see the pension story attached with the press release). They were procrastinating in paying my salary in November 2023 and manipulating the payment of my total official compensation by creating hateful and baseless racist laws with the cooperation of the corrupt and racist administration, professors, and staff of the California Faculty Association (CFA).
Moreover, they deprived me of the support I was entitled to, like stolen supervisory points from 2002 to the Present, teaching assistance, publications, travel, losses of salaries for seven years + damage), feedback to my students, extra lectures, and other services. They even prevented me from providing feedback to my students from 2017 to Present. Furthermore, they appointed spies on me from students, staff, and professors. This is one of several forms of corruption among corrupted faculty, staff, students, and the California Faculty Association (CFA). This is the tip of the iceberg. As a result, they killed me academically, financially, psychologically, physically, and morally since 2006 with their ugly demotion of my position. The funny thing is that everyone who has harmed me has received an award for their satanic behavior. It is strange to see this in Earth's most lavish country- the United States of America.
If you are interested in knowing more about my tragedy, please get in touch with me at (http://drfayad.com), and don't hesitate to contact me at ([email protected]) to get the extended stories with much evidence within this volume. The delay in doing the website caused a lot of losses because "Amazon Publishing Pro" did not HONOR THE CONTRACT SIGNED ON APRIL 14, 2023, andparticipatedg in the Collective Injustice.

Chapter 08: My Pension
(It is part of Volume 01 and Volume 14 and the impact on my entire life in all the volumes)
In the following lines, I will talk about my retirement and pension. It is a financial statement. When they hired me at San Jose State University in August 2002, they hired me as a full professor with no tenure and not a lecturer. Then, I gained two extra years of experience. Therefore, they have never employed me as a lecturer. I started giving my lectures as a full professor in the academic year from August 22, 2002, to August 21, 2007. In 2006, I was demoted to a lecturer for two years. I have been on leave since 2007. Why were these years not included in my service at the university? My service was missing for two years, which is nonsense. There is something wrong with my pension, which has been intentionally altered since August 21, 2007. At the height of my age, I was in the middle of a fierce war that I had never expected. I did not find a justification for their actions except for hatred, jealousy, and hate.
Furthermore, I became sure that what was happening was a comic play on the stage of this absurd life. I became the victim of injustice, and the claws of a wild wolf destroyed my shattered soul. In 2006, I waged a legal battle to restore my lost rights, during which I incurred large sums of money that I badly needed. As a result, I lost my health, money, and status. In addition, my income was reduced from ten thousand dollars to two thousand dollars a month. I returned to the university in 2008, when I applied for a professorship. However, my whole world was turned upside down at the university. They all stood against me to deprive me of my original rights, putting obstacles in my way and provoking me with inappropriate practices for scholars. I received a message via email informing me that my salary would stop in August for flimsy reasons that contradict reality. As a result, I could not control my tears, which poured out like a flood or a lost child wailing due to the urgent needs of life regarding food, clothing, medicine, and the house rent. Five days later, I received another letter of suspension of business, full of insolence, fraud, and fabricated accusations that have no basis in truth. I laughed bitterly as I fled from a country in the underdeveloped third world that does not respect the humanity of people and does not make them equal to find here, in what is the so-called "home of freedoms," cruelled and discriminating.

Writing a chapter for an open-access is the same as for a book not available for free. It is just the financing model which differs. The question is who will pay for the publication. If they demand a fee from the authors, you should decide whether it is worth to pay. And you should carefully check the publisher.

It's clear that facing collective injustice without justification for an extended period of time can be incredibly frustrating, disheartening, and emotionally distressing for individuals and communities. It can erode trust in legal systems and institutions and lead to feelings of anger, helplessness, and a desire for justice and accountability. It's essential to seek avenues for redress and change through peaceful and lawful means, such as legal advocacy, activism, and advocacy for policy reform.

My manuscript was accepted in an Elsevier journal on Sep. 26, 2018. The corrected proof is available online since Oct. 5, 2018 but I haven't received the final version yet. At the same time, I see more recent publications that are available as final versions. What could be the reasons?

Can an article be published here?
Relevant answer
Answer
ResearchGate is not a publisher, you cannot "publish" a paper here. It is a platform for papers published in journals, or to present unpublished texts, data etc. See also "Is ResearchGate a publisher?" in https://help.researchgate.net/hc/en-us/articles/14292596164753. But see also this help page ("How to add research") for instructions how to add published or unpublished research to ResearchGate: https://help.researchgate.net/hc/en-us/articles/14293005132305

Hello! I am a young researcher and my specialization is "Land management, cadastres and land monitoring" (in Russian it is "ВАК 25.00.26"). I want to publish my research in Scopus and WoS magazines, but I don not know anybody in my University, who have experience with journals on the profile of land management and cadastres (most of scientists have been published in journals on economics or geoinformatics, but not on land management). So, do you know any scientific magazines (not predatory publishing) in this specialisation? Magazines on socio-economic geography and geoinformatics (German-language and English-language editions) will also be suitable.

Infact, I am also publishing one scientific journal on behalf of a registered society of Krishi Vigyan but when I submit my research paper in some other scientific journal, a huge amount is asked as processing, printing or publishing charges. Sometimes, I feel that this is a very good business because now a days, every scientist is looking for more number of publications than its quality. Kindly comment, is it so or not?

I am searching for a website that has all CS journals (specially machine learning and artificial intelligence ones) and writes the TTP (Time To Publish) for each paper.
TTP = E[1st review + revision + 2nd review + revision + ... + final review + accept + internet publish]
Relevant answer
It depends on many factors. First and foremost is the Processing of the respective Academic Journal (i.e., you will find Different Processing for Different Journal). Therefore, no formula or any kind of calculation of the time may work.

We submitted a manuscript to PLOS ONE and were accepted for publication on July 12, 2023. We paid the article processing charge a few days later, but the article has still not been published (after 40 days). A DOI has been generated but it leads nowhere (10.1371/journal.pone.0289151).
We have tried contacting PLOS ONE through multiple email addresses and have received no response. We also tried to call the phone number listed on our invoice to confirm payment, but were directed to an automated message that told us to send them an email. Due to 'high volume' they expected to get back to us in 7-10 business days.
Has anyone else had delays in publishing with PLOS lately?

Answer
Congrats!
By the way they claim the following: Received April 10th Accepted July 12th Published September 8th, 2023, wonder if the publishing date is correct.
Best regards.

After publishing a research paper, will it be possible to index it if the journal that published it has not done so.
Relevant answer
Answer
Basically, you need to publish in a journal which is already indexed in databases like Scopus, DOAJ etc. Alternatively, you post your paper to google scholar gate for articles to gain readership and citations.

Valid point der Stam Nicolis , while if you get the whole arsenal of vaguely known standard model parameters to arbitrarily precision from Poisson Degeneracy alone - we are no longer talking about a single guess, but a totally new paradigm hidden in this "Natural Space" under scrutiny.
This Poisson Degeneracy repeats the same eigenvalue in all dimensions for d >1, rendering it a universal value. Furthermore, the Poisson Degeneracy proves that our spatial reality has an internal dual, and these spaces jointly along with Action Space constitute our natural space we live in.
All the best,

The only confirmed theory of gravity is the general theory of relativity. It is confirmed by the results of observations. In particular, it has been confirmed that our Universe is described by Riemannian space. It has disadvantages: there are non-physical features in the solutions.
It would seem that there is nothing more important than general relativity and that is what we need to deal with... BUT
A favorite subject of thousands of unscrupulous studies, “black holes” are just an extremely deep potential hole. Against this background, the only full-fledged theory of general relativity is something unnecessary and insignificant. A similar situation is in cosmology - hypotheses are introduced and non-existent objects are considered as real.
At the same time, research into general relativity is considered incorrect and rejected without explanation. This indicates, in particular, that the system of publishing and financing science has outlived its usefulness. The system has closed on itself.
New research is not taken seriously. Science officials act according to a rule that excludes everything new and incomprehensible. Everything is managed by “effective managers”. They will never allow a “patent office employee” into their business.
Meanwhile, there are works that make the part of science that imitates scientific activity useless.
