Hello - I just wanted to know the minimum percentage of academic references in a master's thesis at an Australian university. I am with the School of Property, RMIT. My final dissertation will be around 30,000 words NET, including ONLY the content in all the chapters (excluding table of contents and references). I estimate I will have a reference for every 120 words, approximately 175 plus academic references (70% of the total) plus trusted government and other websites (like CoreLogic, PEXA, Deloitte, PxC), i.e., around 250 total references. All are written in around 150-A4 page documents using Times New Roman 12 font. Thanks

Hi,
In the panel data model, where I'm researching the effects of demographic indicators associated with the aging of the population on the Poverty Risk Rate indicator. In this model, I found a negative regression coefficient for the regressor Proportion of seniors (it is a statistically significant effect), which means that with a higher proportion of seniors, the rate of poverty risk should decrease and vice versa. Please, how could I explain this in my thesis? The model is also tested for heteroskedasticity, autocorrelation, and multicollinearity, and all come out well.
Thank you!

Hakan is right but to make sure it is not "spurious correlation" I would check the regression model for different time period (years) when, for example, economic situation of seniors was different. But it depends how long your times series are to make this kind of validation.

One of my primary concerns is to identify the research gap for my topic. The article by Yim et al. (2017) suggested that the need for cognition and need for emotion could be essential factors to consider in research. However, I am having difficulty identifying these gaps. Additionally, I am unsure about which constructs should be included in the research. In my opinion, interactivity and vividness should be included, but I am uncertain about immersion. I was hoping that someone in this forum could help me come up with a research topic for my master's thesis. I understand it's probably a lot to ask.

Does anyone know how hurricane are modeled in MATLAB? And how do I use its outputs to show the impact on the distribution network?
Relevant answer
Answer
Hi Hossein,
You seem to be asking two questions here. The first is
1. Hi. Can anyone help me with writing a thesis on resilience?
and the second,
2. Does anyone know how hurricane are modeled in MATLAB? And how do I use its outputs to show the impact on the distribution network?
The former requires more context on what "thesis on resilience" means.
Therefore, I shall attempt to answer the first half of the second question.
The Tropical Cyclone Report on Hurricane Sandy, created by the National Hurricane Center (NHC), meticulously outlines the storm's trajectory, strength, effects, and meteorological features. These reports, often released following noteworthy tropical cyclone occurrences, provide crucial insights for researchers, emergency planners, and the general public, enhancing comprehension of the storm's behaviour and repercussions. You can find this report attached or at https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/data/tcr/AL182012_Sandy.pdf. This report may serve as a theoretical beginning point for what you want to understand.
For the MATLAB implementation using data from this same file, please visit MATLAB central at https://se.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/50575-hurricane-sandy-fluid-mechanics-simulation-animated-gifs-linked-in-updates for a maybe useful MATLAB script file by Yussef Rikli on this. Cheers.

Answer
Hi Ahmad azmi Esmaeil,
Assalam u Alaikum (Peace be upon you)
I wanted to share some insights regarding your inquiry about the manageability and reasonableness of your master's thesis proposal. Below is a response from ChatGPT: https://chat.openai.com/
Exploring the interplay among 7 variables and formulating 13 research hypotheses for your master's thesis proposal is certainly feasible, but it does pose some challenges. Here are some insights and considerations to help you evaluate the manageability and reasonableness of your proposal:
  1. Complexity: With 7 variables and 13 hypotheses, your study may be quite complex. It's important to ensure that you have a clear understanding of each variable and how they relate to each other. Consider whether the complexity of your study is manageable within the scope of your master's thesis.
  2. Focus: Make sure that each hypothesis addresses a specific aspect of your research question and contributes to the overall objectives of your study.
  3. Feasibility: Consider the feasibility of collecting data on 7 variables and testing 13 hypotheses. Do you have access to the necessary resources, participants, and measures? Can you realistically analyze the data within the constraints of your thesis timeline? Ensure that your research plan is feasible given the available resources and time frame.
  4. Sample Size and Power: Adequate sample size is crucial for testing multiple hypotheses and detecting meaningful effects. Make sure that you have sufficient power to detect the hypothesized relationships among variables. Consider conducting a power analysis to determine the required sample size for your study.
  5. Consultation and Feedback: Seek feedback from your advisor, supervisor, committee members, or peers. Discussing your research proposal with others can provide valuable insights and perspectives. They can help you evaluate the feasibility and reasonableness of your study design and provide suggestions for refinement.
  6. Organization and Planning: Organize your research plan in a clear and structured manner. Clearly outline the variables, hypotheses, research design, and methodology in your thesis proposal. Develop a timeline for data collection, analysis, and writing to ensure that you can complete your thesis within the allotted time frame.
  7. Flexibility and Adaptability: Be prepared to adapt your research plan as needed based on feedback, unexpected challenges, or limitations that arise during the course of your study. Maintain flexibility in your approach and be open to making adjustments as necessary.
In summary, exploring 7 variables and formulating 13 hypotheses for your master's thesis proposal is achievable with careful planning and consideration. Ensure that your research plan is focused, feasible, and well-organized, and seek feedback from others to refine your proposal. With diligence and perseverance, you can successfully complete your thesis and contribute valuable insights to the field of psychology.
I hope you find this information helpful!

Muhammad Adeel

I am a PhD student hoping to use the Occupational Stress Scale (OSS)
(House, McMichael, Wells, Kaplan & Landerman, 1979) in my thesis.
I cannot find copyright details anywhere. If anyone can help, I would be very grateful.
Relevant answer
Answer
Yes, you typically need permission to use the Occupational Stress Scale (OSS) developed by House, McMichael, Wells, Kaplan & Landerman in 1979. The OSS is a copyrighted instrument, and its use is subject to the permission of the copyright holder, which may be the original authors or the publisher of the scale.
Before using the OSS in your research or any other context, it's important to obtain proper authorization. This often involves contacting the copyright holder, explaining your intended use of the scale, and requesting permission to use it. Depending on the circumstances, there may be fees associated with obtaining permission to use copyrighted materials.
Using copyrighted materials without permission can infringe on the rights of the copyright holder and may have legal consequences. Therefore, it's essential to ensure that you have the appropriate permissions before using the Occupational Stress Scale or any other copyrighted instrument.

Hello everyone,
I'm currently pursuing my degree and have started preparing for my master's thesis. However, I've encountered a challenge with my main independent variable. My interest lies in exploring the impact of social media, multitasking, video games, and video streaming on university students' learning motivation and engagement, along with other mediating and moderating variables such as meaning in life, self-control, and boredom.
Initially, I considered "digital distraction" as the main term to encompass these factors, but I soon realized it might not be the best fit. I then thought about using "digital media," but I haven't found many studies that focus on this term. Recently, I came across the term "screen time," but now I'm feeling confused and unsure about the most appropriate term for my research.
Unfortunately, I don't have any experts in this field among my lecturers. I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions regarding my thesis topic. Thank you in advance for your help!
Relevant answer
Answer
Ahmad azmi Esmaeil I suggest for you to choose only one independent variable, for example; Investigating the Impact of active participating experiences on social media on students' performance, transformative learning, and academic & social achievements in higher learning. The independent variable is: social media. The dependent variables are: students' performance, transformative learning, academic and social achievements. You can use the research method of your choice. Best to you!

For two of the studies in my thesis, a mixed-methods design was choosen. They are, however, different in their approaches since they are exploratory and expanatory. I have been asked to reflect on how to reach reliability and how to handle having two rather contradicting methods in the same thesis. Any suggestions of what to add in the methodological considerations section in the thesis regarding this?
Thank you.
Relevant answer
Answer
I have a chapter about "three step" designs in my book, Integrating Qualitative and Quantitative Methods. Probably the most common version of this design is qual --> QUAN --> qual, which creates a sequence that begins with an exploratory qualitative study and continues with an explanatory qualitative study.
This makes good sense within a mixed methods perspective, so I have to wonder why someone thinks these methods are "contradictory." Perhaps you are dealing with an advocate of qualitative methods who is a hold over from the "paradigm wars" of 1980s and 1990s?

I defended my thesis in Applied Mathematics by doing a machine learning model for buildings crack detection. I can say that using CNN, ANN or whatever you want alone will not be enough. In my case, I had to cover the mathematical part behind neural networks. In addition, I included crack detection for pipes as a test case and had to cover image projection on crack part. For short, include as much maths and formulas as you can and you will be fine.

1. **Statgraphics Documentation:**
Check the official documentation or user guides provided by Statgraphics. They often include detailed explanations, examples, and tutorials. Visit the official Statgraphics website or look for documentation within the software.
2. **Statgraphics Support Center:**
Explore the support center on the Statgraphics website. They may offer additional resources, tutorials, or forums where users can share tips and solutions.
3. **Online Forums and Communities:**
Participate in forums and communities related to statistics, data analysis, and Statgraphics. Websites like Stack Overflow, Reddit (e.g., r/statistics), or specialized forums might have discussions and resources shared by users.
4. **Educational Platforms:**
Check educational platforms such as YouTube, Coursera, or Udemy for video tutorials and courses related to DistLM and statistical modeling using Statgraphics.
5. **Books and Academic Resources:**
Look for books on statistical modeling or multivariate analysis that may cover DistLM. Academic publications and journals could also be valuable sources.
6. **Consult Statisticians or Experts:**
If you're part of an academic institution, consider reaching out to statisticians or experts in the field who may have experience with DistLM in Statgraphics.
Since software tools and their documentation can change, it's a good idea to check for the most recent resources and updates. If there have been any developments or new resources released since my last update, you should be able to find them through the channels mentioned above.

I have a master's thesis on the characteristics of the board of directors on return per share, and I do not know how to begin
Relevant answer
Answer
The impact of board of directors characteristics on stock return is a critical determinant in the success and governance of a company. Research suggests that boards with diverse expertise, independent members, and a blend of skills tend to have a positive effect on stock performance. Boards with strong leadership, experienced members, and a clear understanding of the industry can provide valuable insights and strategic direction for the company, ultimately driving higher returns for shareholders. Conversely, boards lacking diversity or independence may lead to poor decision-making and conflicts of interest that could negatively impact stock prices. Investors often look at the composition and effectiveness of a company's board when making investment decisions, recognizing the significant influence these characteristics can have on stock returns. Therefore, companies should prioritize building influential boards that are well-equipped to drive long-term value creation and foster shareholder trust.

For my thesis, my supervisor and I have decided to look at how questions are posed in research across different cultures. In order to do this, we will use framing analysis. The issue is, however, that I need to operationalise the sociology of science before I can start the analysis.
I need to figure out how to operationalise the preoccupation in social research. So what could possibly not be neutral, and where does it come from?

I read a couple of articles and found the interesting subject of country image (which can be dangerous because I might slide into a marketing subject)
But, I read some articles an find it very interesting to talk about the importer / exporter point of view and how can country image create opportunities and at the same time entry barrier for the exporter and what different variable to take into account ?
I really need an external point of view as I believe my question is quite complete but i do not know if it is relevant for an export manager ?

Dear China, Chemistry is indeed a very broad discipline. When deciding on a Ph.D. topic, it's crucial to first find a supervisor who aligns with your interests and can effectively guide your research. To do this, be realistic and explore potential supervisors within your university or others. Research their areas of expertise to see if they match your interests. Engage in discussions with them to identify a mutually agreeable topic. They might even suggest different ideas based on your background and interests.
Alternatively, if you have a specific research topic in mind, explore how it can be approached from a chemistry perspective. Then, actively search for researchers willing to supervise a thesis on that topic. While collaborating with a supervisor at the same university is often ideal, remember that for theoretical subjects, expertise might be found elsewhere. Consider the feasibility of remote collaboration if necessary. I whish you all the best with your future career.

I'm writing my thesis on the impact of banking crises on suicide rates using Local Projections with fixed effects. I'm trying to understand the difference between the c_exog_data and c_fd_exog_data parameters of the lp_lin_panel() function in R's "lpirfs" package and which one is better for setting my control variables.
Relevant answer
Answer
Iryna Nepip DeepAI:s response helps? Nice to see someone using R in here!!!
The `lp_lin_panel()` function from the "lpirfs" package in R is used to estimate impulse responses in linear panel models. It takes several parameters, including `c_exog_data` and `c_fd_exog_data`, which are related to the exogenous variables in the model.
The `c_exog_data` parameter is used to provide the data for exogenous variables in levels. It is a matrix or data frame where each column represents a different exogenous variable. This parameter should contain all the exogenous variables that are considered to be shocks or impulse variables in the model.
On the other hand, the `c_fd_exog_data` parameter is used to provide the data for exogenous variables in first differences. Similar to `c_exog_data`, it is a matrix or data frame where each column represents a different exogenous variable. This parameter should contain the first differences of the exogenous variables that are considered to be shocks or impulse variables in the model.
The use of either `c_exog_data` or `c_fd_exog_data` depends on the model specification and the data available. If the model is specified in levels (i.e., exogenous variables are in levels), then `c_exog_data` should be used. If the model is specified in first differences (i.e., exogenous variables are in first differences), then `c_fd_exog_data` should be used.
In summary, `c_exog_data` is used when exogenous variables are specified in levels, while `c_fd_exog_data` is used when exogenous variables are specified in first differences.

Please explain it. I'm working with 25 different lines of #Bitter_gourd for my MS thesis. And, one of them shows two bands at 300bp and about 280bp which is seen by naked eye but not in this picture well.
Relevant answer
Answer
The two bands you refer to could be DNA fragments of different sizes produced by PCR amplification. The size of the DNA fragments can be estimated by comparing them to a DNA ladder or marker that contains DNA fragments of known sizes. If you are having trouble visualizing the two bands in your sample, try using a different staining method or increasing the amount of DNA loaded onto the gel. Alternatively, you could use a different PCR protocol or optimize the reaction conditions to improve the specificity and sensitivity of the amplification.

Question
1 answer
Hello! My name is Paula Onita and I'm working on my master thesis. I need as many answers as possible from amateur and pro athletes.
you can find a short questionnaire above.
Relevant answer
Answer
There are some problems with your survey. Firstly there are far too many questions. You obviously hope to collect lots of information but there are far too many questions. Very few people will bother to complete such a survey and if they do they are likely to give random answers just to get to the end - which makes your research worthless.
To get around this problem, I suggest you use a short survey to recruit people and let them know they will receive several short surveys on specific topics (name the topics). Also explain to the participants what kind of information you will provide them during your research and once your research is complete. Getting people to complete a survey is a marketing problem. You need to find some way to motivate them. Just saying you are writing a thesis doesn't do that. I recommend you seek advice from someone with social marketing experience.
I didn't bother to read all the questions but did notice the one asking how times you practice daily. The minimum option you provide is one practice/day. Most amateur sports people practice less than that. So just ask how many times per week people practice and clarify if this is just for the main sport or all sports if more than one. Also, some people don't practice and just play. For example, I practice outrigger canoeing all year, practice dragon boat racing only Feb/March, and play in a volleyball league twice a week most of the year - but don't practice.
The third problem is that there are too many compulsory questions. So if a respondent can't answer a question or the question doesn't give a viable option (like the one on how many times per day your practice) the respondent's only option is to abandon the survey.
A fourth problem is that you ask for too much detail. I guess only some professional sports take note of what dosage of vitamins and supplements they use. Maybe do this question as a grid and have a "don't know" option for each one.

I appreciate your cooperation in advance.
Relevant answer
Answer
I'm willing to assist you in seeking guidance for your master's thesis in biotechnology for the bioeconomy. A great starting point is exploring internship opportunities within relevant companies in your field. You can begin by researching companies involved in biotechnology applied to the bioeconomy through corporate websites, job boards, or even by reaching out to professionals or professors who might have information about available internships.
Regarding your thesis topic, consider delving into current trends in biotechnology for the bioeconomy. This could encompass areas such as sustainable biofuel production, biotechnology applications in agriculture to enhance crops and reduce environmental impact, or the development of biodegradable biomaterials to replace non-recyclable plastics.
Once you secure an internship or identify an area of interest for your thesis, explore how current research in that field aligns with the company's objectives or the latest scientific and technological advancements. This will help you define a specific and relevant thesis topic.
Feel free to ask your professors or industry experts about potential thesis topics or advice on approaching companies for internships. Hi everyone. I'm currently working on my master's thesis. Due to my research, I need the Inventory of Interpersonal Problems - IIP 32 document. Can anyone help me?
Relevant answer
Answer
The Inventory of Interpersonal Problems - IIP 32 is a self-report questionnaire that assesses one's interpersonal difficulties. It's a shorter version of the IIP-64, containing 32 items instead of 64. Here are some key details:
Purpose:
  • To identify and measure common interpersonal problems across various situations.
  • To evaluate two main dimensions of interpersonal behavior: dominance (controlling vs. submissive) and affiliation (warm vs. cold).
  • To provide insights into eight specific subdomains of interpersonal difficulties.
Structure:
  • 32 statements representing different interpersonal challenges, starting with "It is hard for me to..." or "I do too much..."
  • Respondents rate each statement on a 5-point Likert scale (0 - Not at all, 4 - Very much).
Subscales:
  • Dominant/Controlling (PA): Overly assertive, bossy, and manipulative.
  • Invasive/Needy (NO): Clingy, intrusive, and overly demanding of attention.
  • Overly Nurturing/Self-Sacrificing (LM): Puts others' needs before their own to the point of neglecting themselves.
  • Exploitable/Submissive (JK): Easily taken advantage of, avoids conflict, and struggles to assert needs.
  • Nonassertive (HI): Difficulty expressing needs, making requests, and standing up for themselves.
  • Socially Inhibited (FG): Shy, anxious in social situations, and avoids close relationships.
  • Cold/Distant (DE): Emotionally detached, withdrawn, and lacks warmth in relationships.
  • Vindictive/Self-Centered (BC): Holds grudges, easily angered, and prioritizes own needs over others'.
Applications:
  • Clinical diagnosis: Can help identify interpersonal patterns contributing to mental health issues.
  • Therapy: Provides a starting point for discussing and addressing interpersonal difficulties.
  • Research: Used to investigate interpersonal behavior and its role in various phenomena.
Limitations:
  • Self-report measure, susceptible to biases and inaccurate responses.
  • Doesn't provide direct observations of behavior, only self-perceptions.
  • Not a diagnostic tool, results should be interpreted by a qualified professional.
Overall, the IIP-32 is a valuable tool for understanding and addressing interpersonal challenges. It's widely used in clinical and research settings and can offer valuable insights for individuals seeking to improve their relationships.
Additional Resources:
I hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions.

What role in the development of scientific cooperation is the application of ethics, culture and respect towards other people, other cultures, other value systems, etc.?
What role does the application of ethics, culture and respect towards other people, other cultures, other value systems, etc. play in the development of scientific cooperation, including the conduct of interdisciplinary research projects, scientific cooperation within the framework of international teams of researchers and scientists, within the framework of ongoing discussions on the discussion forum of this Research Gate portal?
Dear Researchers and Scientists, Friends and Colleagues,
In my opinion, answering the above question, I state that the role of applying the principles of ethics, culture and respect towards other people, other cultures, other value systems, etc. in the development of scientific cooperation, including the conduct of interdisciplinary research projects, scientific cooperation within the framework of international teams of researchers and scientists, within the framework of the ongoing discussions on the discussion forum of this Research Gate portal. Do you agree with me?
In the discussion forum of this Research Gate portal, in order to inspire discussion on various research topics, I have formulated many questions and theses.
I am glad that many of these questions turned out to inspire discussions involving many researchers, scientists, experts in a particular field, people who conduct scientific research on a particular issue, people who publish in their scientific publications the results of their research, people who are interested in a particular issue taken up in the mentioned questions posted on the discussion forum of this Research Gate portal.
I am glad that the questions posed on this discussion forum of the Research Gate portal have proved to be an inspiration for interesting discussions, in which noble researchers and scientists participate. In the course of these discussions, which sometimes take on the character of brainstorming, exchange of ideas, new inspirations for further research topics emerge, new research concepts are formed, proposals for new topics for theses are made, etc. Within the framework of the discussions held, researchers and scientists exchange their experiences of their scientific research, present their research results, inspire scientific cooperation, point out other new insights on certain issues. Thanks to this, there are inspirations for new research directions, for undertaking scientific cooperation in various topics and also for interdisciplinary research teams, etc. This is the key purpose of this discussion forum of the Research Gate portal.
However, I am very saddened when the participating researchers and scientists in the framework of the discussions held, instead of a desire for understanding, understanding, respect towards other people, the participants in the discussions representing other scientific communities, other cultures, other countries instead of respect and culture generate negative emotions, instead of substantive arguments in support of their theses turn to other Persons with invectives and negative expressions, i.e. act contrary to the principles of ethics and the basics of culture, ignoring the principles of ethics of research and science, also ignoring the principles of ethics of this discussion forum. So I very much ask you to follow the rules of culture and respect other people participating in discussions. This is important because aggression generates aggression and respect generates respect. Hopefully, looking to the future, I believe that those fortunately mentioned above situations of negative nature were few and in the future there will be none, and that on the discussion forum of the Research Gate portal, everyone participating in discussions will apply respect to other people, participants in discussions and also regardless of whether other participants in discussions represent other scientific communities, other cultures, other countries and so on.
Faced with the development of various global problems, in trying to solve these problems we should all look for what unites us and not what divides us. This is the key to the development of our scientific cooperation and also to jointly solve various global problems.
Therefore, in the situation of participating in discussions on this Research Gate portal, I therefore very much ask you to apply the principles of ethics, culture and respect for others.
And what is your opinion on this topic?
Please feel free to respond,
I invite everyone to join the discussion,
Thank you very much,
I encourage you to participate in discussions on this discussion forum on various topics,
Thank you,
I extend my warmest greetings to all participants in the discussions on the Research Gate portal,

A shift happened in North America after 1990 when that stopped being taught in professional nursing curricula at the undergraduate level. No one human, physician, nurse, or social work/mental health professional can be effective in helping another human without first being self-aware and the impact of that self on the vulnerabilities of another (compassion/self-compassion). The profession has regressed in favor of a corporate distribution/business model of restrictive care.

For soil and hydrological gridded data, you can check ISRIC Data Hub: https://data.isric.org/geonetwork/srv/eng/catalog.search#/home (and downloadable soil records: https://files.isric.org/soilgrids/latest/data_aggregated/)
The vegetation cover is quite an involved process - use the Google Earth Engine's (https://earthengine.google.com) code editor to extract the gridded NDVI data (e.g., from MOD13A1.061 Terra Vegetation Indices 16-Day Global 500m or even MOD13Q1). I've already sent you the URLs of my articles and my doctoral thesis, but I don't see any articles on my page. I wanted to upload these articles to my profile, but I'm told that Researchgate already has the DOIs and can prove that the document belongs to me. So my question is how does it go about giving proof since there is no link to that effect?
Thank you

I am looking for studies on change management in the merger of the social and health care sector for my thesis. Can someone tell me tips on what kind of searches I could use to find them?
Relevant answer
Answer
Change Management is a vast area, and one can find many study areas. One of the seminal works is that of John Kotter, who has done pioneering studies and has proposed an eight step methodology for transormational change. An important tool in change management is the Balanced score Card. This was introduced in 1991, and since then, much literature has accumulated. These two works could be used to make transformations in any field, including healthvare and the social sector.

Hi all,
I am preparing for my thesis submission. When I checked my whole thesis, I got 41% similarity, but when I excluded references, it reduced to 22%. And the major portion (9%) was similar to my own research article.
Is it fine?
Thanks in advance,
Swarnali
Relevant answer
Answer
It should be less than 10% excluding references. You can try to change words and content a little. But some universities are considering around 15% . It depends on the content also.

I need primary studies on the topic of periodization in soccer for a thesis paper. Thanks!
Relevant answer
Answer
There are several approaches you can take:
Academic Databases: Use keywords such as "periodization," "soccer," "football," and "training" to narrow down your search. You can also combine these keywords with terms like "performance," "fitness," or "physiology" to focus on specific aspects of periodization.
Journals: Look for specific journals that publish research on sports science, exercise physiology, or soccer-related fields

Also called the conventionalist interpretation of physics success this is a main counterargument against the ni-miracles thesis i.e physics success cannot attributes to biz are epistemology or Luck but it having endorsed a proper, rigorous and fruiitious epistemology
Although there are other arguments, like the realist argument, I believe it is the stronger counterargument to the idealization of physics science's prowess.

Physics picks out entities and definitions that satisfy it.
I had already read Philipp Frank's book on the philosophy of science before entering Stanford as a physics major. I was already prepared to view science as a collection of "useful fictions." Keep in mind that "fiction" is a cognate or derivative of Latin "facere" which means "to make." My professors never spoke of "laws." It was always "models."
I also learned that elementary Physics dealt with geometrical lines that cannot exist because a line has has no width and no thickness, but even the finest instrument maker scribes lines that have width and depth. Physics at that level deals with "rigid rods" that don't exist either because there is space between each and every atom on iron in the rod.
Physicists learned the clarifying utility of operational definitions. A geometrical circle is a kind of line, so it doesn't exist. But I can tell you or demonstrate to you how to make an approximation of a circle that is good enough for practical purposes. All you need is a nail, a length of cord, and some kind of pointed instrument tied to the end of the cord remote from the end looped around the nail.
Physics does not get to pick out things that satisfy it. Physics tries to make fictions that would satisfy nature. Physics was satisfied with its fictions until it hit the ultraviolet catastrophe prediction that classical physics made. It was self-satisfied until nature confounded it. It doesn't matter how much of a conflict of notes such ideas as a subatomic particle with both positive and negative spins may assault humans with. Nature says, "Deal with it."
At one point physics had a "raisin pudding" picture of the atom, but experiment showed that lots there is lots of space between nucleus and electrons. Well, how about a solar system model then? But the "planets" should all plow into the "sun" almost instantly. We ended up with quantum mechanics, and it maintained things that Einstein could never accept. He died still trying to make physics fit his intuition. The universe probably liked Einstein, but it wouldn't change just for him. ;-)

I recently came across an Mphil thesis, which I found absolutely AI-generated and completely paraphrased, making no sense. Even, not a single sentence of its abstract was meaningful. I think theses and article write-ups have become a game of the days. It not only has affected readership interest, but also has it caused a lot of the fake content. Have your say in this regard.

The main thing I would add to Michal Místecký s response is that the use of AI needs to be thoroughly cited. I see all too many replies here on RG which simply plug in a response from an AI without crediting the source, which I think sets a bad example.
